Research Assistant

Position : Research Assistant (freelance contract possible)

Period : 2 months with possible long term extension; flexible working hours starting in May or June 2014

Responsibility : provides research assistance on legal, political, academic and other related issues in Thai and/or English

Remuneration : case-by-case per qualification but at minimum a competitive rate to entry-level salary of bachelor degree graduates, and upon successful work completion a reference letter and guidance for leading universities and scholarships applications

Minimum requirements

- University graduate or current student in 3rd or 4th year, a major in law,  political science or communications not required but preferred
- GPA of 2.5 or higher
- Fluency in Thai
- English competency not required but preferred
- General computer skills for word processing and presentation slides
- Bangkok residency not required but must be able to attend regular meetings in Bangkok
- Faith in democracy with no criminal record or background

Shortlisted candidates will be contacted by email between 6-7 pm on Friday 2 May 2014 and will also be asked to demonstrate research and writing skills by preparing a short note, in Thai, to be submitted by email before 7 pm on Saturday 3 May 2014.

Candidates who submit short research notes will be invited to interview session(s) to be scheduled in Bangkok on Sunday 4 May 2014 between 1 pm - 5 pm, and conducted in Thai.

Update: applicants who are scheduled to take lawyer license exam on 4 May 2014 may indicate their unavailability in the application email, and those shortlisted will be invited to submit research note and attend interview session at a later date (tentatively 17-18 May 2014) 

Candidates who are offered positions are asked to convey their acceptance in 1-2 days. 

Interested applicants are advised to prepare for availability during such period. Applicants facing exceptional circumstance are urged to write to before 30 April 2014.
